1.  Gatorade was created in 1965 when researchers were formulating a drink to rehydrate athletes at the University of Florida . . . and since the school’s nickname is the Gators, the initial idea was to name it:  “Gator-Aid.”

 

 

The earliest version consisted of a mixture of water, sodium, sugar, potassium, phosphate, and real lemon juice.

 

 

2.  Archaeologists have found Civil War soldiers used hair dye to make themselves look better in photos.

 

 

3.  White elephant gifts got their name from an old practice by kings in Asia, where if they were upset with a subject, they’d give them a rare albino elephant . . . which was expensive and difficult to maintain.
