1.  Trampoline was originally a trademarked brand name, and the generic term was “rebound tumbler.”  But trampoline eventually became genericized, like Aspirin, Kleenex, and Thermos.

 

 

2.  In the 18th century, rich people would hire real people to serve, basically, as human garden gnomes.  The “ornamental hermits” would live in the rich person’s garden and dress like a druid.

 

 

3.  St. Louis has had the biggest drop in population of any American city.  It peaked at 857,000 people in 1950 and is now around 300,000 . . . which is a 65% drop.
