1.Around 10,000 different torchbearers have carried the torch over the past three months.  It’s been winding its way through France since early May.

2.  The youngest and oldest athletes this year are both on Team USA.  Gymnast Hezly Rivera just turned 16 last month.  Steffen Peters will compete in dressage, the fancy horse-dancing event.  He’s 59, and it’s his sixth Olympics.

3. During the 2024 Opening Ceremony, athletes won’t parade through a stadium

Instead, they are expected to float on boats down the River Seine toward the Eiffel Tower. For the first time ever, free access will be offered via invitation. Of course, some shelled out serious cash for the best seats and views: The last unsold tickets were just shy of $3,000 apiece.
