Faith in national anthem performances has been restored this week, as Cody Johnson delivered a soulful rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” at the MLB All-Star game on Tuesday. The award-winning country star’s performance earned much praise online, as his rendition came just a day after a controversial performance by Ingrid Andress.
In 2023, Johnson won best new country artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and his song “Til You Can’t” won single of the year and music video of the year at the Country Music Association Awards in 2022. Johnson is currently on tour as part of his 2024 “The Leather Tour,” which included his first-ever headline performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on February 2.
