New day, new month! Here are a few things to look forward to in November . . .
1. Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday. So we “gain” an hour of sleep, which is fun.
2. In sports: The World Series continues tonight . . . the new NBA season is just getting started . . . the MLS playoffs are underway . . . and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship is this Sunday.
3. In movies: Sofia Coppola’s new Priscilla Presley biopic, “Priscilla”, opens wide this Friday.
. . . the latest Marvel movie “The Marvels” hits theaters a week later.
. . . the new prequel, “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” arrives on the 17th, along with Eli Roth’s new horror flick, “Thanksgiving”.
. . . Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” with Joaquin Phoenix opens on the 22nd . . . so does the new Disney movie, “Wish” . . . and “Maestro” with Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein also opens that day.
4. On TV: Not much because of the actors’ strike. But a new “Love Island” spin-off “Love Island Games” hits Peacock today.
. . . Showtime’s new series “The Curse”, with Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone, premieres on the 10th.
. . . so does season four of “For All Mankind” on Apple TV.
. . . season five of “Fargo” arrives on FX the 21st.
. . . and if you’re into awards shows, the CMA Awards are next Tuesday . . . the Grammy nominees get announced next Friday . . . and the Billboard Music Awards are November 19th.
5. And finally, the holidays: The big ones are Veterans Day on the 11th, and Thanksgiving on the 23rd.
