1. No known hurricane has ever crossed the equator . . . and it’s very rare that they form anywhere near the equator.
That’s because of the Coriolis Effect . . . the force that causes the air to swirl. In the Northern Hemisphere hurricanes spin counterclockwise, and in the Southern Hemisphere they spin in a clockwise direction. So to cross the equator, they’d effectively have to REVERSE direction, which would be wild.
2. Louis Armstrong is the oldest person to have a number one single on the Hot 100. He was almost 63 when “Hello, Dolly!” hit number one on the Billboard chart in May of 1964.
3. Skype’s name is a shortened version of its original name, “Sky Peer-to-Peer.” The people who created it originally wanted to shorten it to “Skyper,” but that domain name was taken.
