My husband and I recently adopted a dog (Blu) from the Antietam Humane Society that was a recent mother. All of Blu’s puppies were in homes by the time we got her, but we were curious to see what her puppies looked like!
Blu came to work with me this past Thursday (April 7th) and I posted a picture of me and Blu in the WAYZ studio on the WAYZ Facebook page! Two people commented on the picture that they had adopted two of Blu’s puppies, and they were SO CUTE! I decided to reach out to the owners and see if they wanted to get the dogs together for a little family reunion.

They both said yes, and we decided to plan a time to meet at a local dog park. I talked about this cute story on-air Thursday, and Blu and her puppies’ foster mom reached out to me. She said that she heard me talking about the family reunion on air and asked if she could come! She also said her friend adopted two of Blu’s other puppies to see if they could come.
By this point, I was over the moon excited! I was wondering if Blu would even recognize her puppies and the foster mom. Only one of Blu’s puppies was able to come and the foster parents came as well, but it was ADORABLE! Blu recognized the foster parents right away and was SO EXCITED and was loving on them. When Blu’s son, Blue arrived, it took Blu a few minutes (there were other dogs at the dog park so there was a lot happening), but then Blu suddenly started getting excited and playing with Blue! Blu and her son 100% recognized each other and ran around and played for a while! Blu did not care about any other dog there, she was honed in on her son.

The foster parents said that Blu was looking really good, which made me and my husband really happy! You always wonder as a dog parent if you’re doing okay, and they said that she looked so happy and healthy which warmed my heart.
We have plans to have another family reunion in the future, and try to get more of Blu’s puppies there! But that was such a fun day and such a cool thing to see! Poor Blu was exhausted when we got home, and slept the whole rest of the day, but I know she had the best time seeing her baby again! 🙂
